Minutes of the meeting on 06/26/99

1) Recap of last year's performance (all figures are for the period
   Feb-Jun 99). The amounts are approximate figures. The exact figures 
   should be available when we come out with the newsletter later in
   the year.

   Target -- $ 2000
   Amount raised -- $ 1450
	  Movie tickets -- $ 600
	  Calendar sales -- $ 250
	  Direct donations -- $ 600

   No. of projects funded -- 1
   Amount disbursed for the project -- $ 900

2) For the current year, 99-00, we set a target of $ 4000. 

     Summer event (summer '99) -- We are having a movie
     series. The movies are scheduled for the 10th July,
     24th July, and August 7th. All the screenings will 
     be in the Davies Auditorium, Becton center, and start 
     at 7:00 p.m.
 

     Fall event (fall '99) -- We are planning to host an Indian Food
     Festival. This will be hosted in conjunction with the McDougal
     Center. The cooking will be divided among ASHA volunteers. We
     will also try to get local restaurants to sponsor this
     event. Essentially this will be a buffet dinner with the accent
     being on variety and non-traditional dishes. It will be a
     one-day event.  The fest is tentatively planned
     for the 3rd week of September.

     Fall event (fall '99) -- The play Sakina's restaurant has
     received very good reviews. (NYT, etc.) It played in New York
     sometime back. We are looking to bringing it to Yale.
     

     Spring event (spring '00) -- Concert by Rajiv Taranath (sarod)
     and Swapan Chaudhuri (tabla). The tentative date for this is
     March '00. However, since this requires fitting in with their
     schedules, the date is subject to wild swings. 

     Summer event (summer '00) -- Bharatnatyam performance by Sunanda
     Narayan.
